Tarot cards were my favorite aspect of “The Night Circus,” so I’ve been trying to learn a little about them. It’s interesting how cards with seemingly negative connotations were actually some of the more positive omens for the time. “The Hanged Man” can be interpreted as a willing sacrifice.
